Car stuck inside?
Garage door won't open
When the opener runs and the door stays down, or the door won't budge by hand, the cause is usually a broken spring, a loose cable or the opener itself. Leave the door where it sits and call.

- Look up at the spring above the door. A gap in the coil means it broke, so leave the door shut.
- Stop pressing the remote. Each try makes the opener strain against a door it can't lift.
- Tell us on the call that the car is inside, and where you need to be.
Why a door won't lift
The springs lift the door, not the opener. A balanced door weighs little in your hands, and the opener only guides it. When a spring or cable fails, the full weight comes back and the motor can't move it.
