One side lower than the other?

What to do right now

  1. Stop using the opener so the door doesn't bind in the tracks.
  2. Look at the cables on both sides of the door. A slack or frayed one is the likely cause.
  3. Keep people and cars clear until the door is fixed.

Why one side drops

Both sides of the door are lifted together, by cables wound on drums at each end of one shaft. When a cable slips or frays, or the extension spring on one side breaks, that side loses its lift and the door tilts.
